Halfway!

Dear Babies,

As I sit here this Valentine’s Day morning, I am so grateful and in love with your daddy. He’s amazing, he really is. And he is so excited to meet you! He went grocery shopping yesterday, and came home with outfits for you two (cute ones too?!?). It’s funny though, today I am 34 weeks and 5 days pregnant. I think they’d measure you to the hour if they could, ha. And boy if you guys haven’t already defied the odds!! A series of doctors had mommy and daddy very scared for quite some time, as they were pretty convinced we wouldn’t make it this far. I’ll tell you more about this another day, but for today let’s talk a different milestone: halfway.

Halfway!! 20 Weeks is halfway through a normal pregnancy (although term for twins is 37-38 weeks, not 40). But our 20 Weeks was a good milestone! I often think back to that day because it was so exciting. You see, our 20 week appointment was with a specialty high risk (because you are twins, that’s considered high risk!) clinic that was going to do an in depth growth ultrasound for twins. Plus, we would find out your sexes!!

You were growing! Around the 50th percentile they said! And the tech asked us, did we want to know what the babies sexes were? We said YES PLEASE! You see, when we thought it was just one baby (so so long ago!) we thought nah, let it be a surprise! But two babies… well that WAS our surprise… so we wanted to know! And of course, both very much girls. Daddy had a misty eyed moment, and I asked him if he was ok. He looked into my eyes and said, “Will they still play with my tractors though?” I laughed! Of course! Because he will play them with you guys :):)

Leave it to Mommy to end a great week on a sour note though… somehow Mommy forgot after 29 years of being alive that the first snow in Minnesota is way slipperier than we remember. She promptly fell right on her bum on that first day of snow. She didn’t hit the belly though!!! But she did break (or very nearly because they couldn’t get the proper X-rays because all of the tiny baby bones that were in the way) her tailbone in the slip and fall incident. And oooooo-eeeee does that smart (still today!!). The second half of this pregnancy has been a horse of a different color. Tell you more later my little loves!

xoxo,

Mommy (& Daddy too!)
